This is for my Uncle Billy. He’s not feeling too great so I’m sending it to him.

An old monoprint
Dec 16, '16Digging through my old stuff, and thought this was nice:
Studio window
Dec 14, '16I have a bunch of birds that hang out in the trees outside my studio window. I got my good camera geared up with a zoom lens and I try to take photos when I see them. Still getting used to the camera, so expect improvements over time. Here’s the latest:
A couple of oldies
Nov 30, '16Took some picks for my sister of old stuff I did. Here are a couple I forgot about.

Typography sucks on screen
Nov 16, '16We’re in an odd place with the whole typography thing. Most people who look at computers on a daily basis have an idea of what fonts are. They just have no idea about how beautiful they can be. The reason is that screens suck. They are either too low resolution (we can see the pixels) […]
Frottage
Nov 07, '16This was one of the first techniques I learned when I began art school, back in fall ’89. It was eye-opening. For the first time, I wasn’t responsible for every nuance that came along. The surface dictated what marks were left. Suddenly, I felt a sense of freedom from that burden of decision in art; […]
Fonts I’ve made
Oct 19, '16Crystal Beach Pier
Oct 09, '16A couple more paintings from this summer, based on memory of the busted up pier that juts out into the point at Crystal Beach, Ont.
Event Speaker doodles
Sep 20, '16I’ve done a fair amount of these over the years. About time I put them all in one place.
Crystal Beach and Bay Beach Club Anchors

Aug 14, '16Summer Gouaches
Aug 01, '16These have been really fun to make and gouache is just the best medium IMHO. I made a bunch of prints of them at the local shop, and after a couple of shows sold quite a few. Contact me if you want one!
Software and Experience
Jul 17, '16The longer you’ve been using an application, the less value you hold to the app developer as a user. Take Facebook. Once upon a time, it was a linear, flowing post stream. If you missed something, you missed it. Now, I have no idea where my posts go or who sees them or in what context. Facebook […]
The English Beat at Ironworks
Jun 28, '16Great show. Loved the sax, and seeing it live made me realize how hard it is to pull off solos like they did in the 80s. Not enough people there, which is a shame. We’re lucky they keep coming back and should support one of the most notable, iconic sounds out of that era.
June
Jun 15, '16Best month of the year. Each day is wide open. Seems like this June stretches on forever.
Fontself is pretty cool
May 22, '16Made it a lot easier to make fonts. I hate having to export glyphs to another program. Website: https://www.fontself.com/ Here’s my first attempt:
